Genuine profiles
We will use sensible account and profile checks to discourage fake, misleading and abusive accounts.
Safety on FindMyPerson
FindMyPerson is being built to help real people make genuine connections while giving members practical tools to protect their privacy, control interactions and raise concerns.
Safety built in
We will use sensible account and profile checks to discourage fake, misleading and abusive accounts.
You decide what you share publicly. Personal contact information should stay private until you choose to share it.
Clear community standards will set expectations around respectful behaviour and appropriate communication.
Members will be able to block unwanted contact and report suspicious, abusive or inappropriate behaviour.
Our commitment
Online dating should be positive and enjoyable. No dating service can guarantee that every interaction will be safe, so good technology needs to be supported by good judgement.
FindMyPerson is being designed with straightforward controls and guidance to help members date with more confidence.
Dating safely
Take time to get to know someone and stay in control of how quickly a new connection progresses.
Avoid sharing your home address, passwords, financial information or other sensitive details with someone you have just met.
Be extremely cautious if someone asks for money, gift cards, transfers or financial help, regardless of the story they give.
Choose a busy public place, arrange your own transport and tell a friend or family member where you are going.
If something feels wrong, end the conversation or date. You never owe someone continued contact.
Real people. Real connections.
A better NZ dating community depends on all of us treating other members with honesty, kindness and respect.
FindMyPerson reporting tools are not an emergency service. If you believe you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact New Zealand emergency services on 111. Suspected fraud or criminal behaviour can also be reported to the appropriate New Zealand authorities.
